The Frog Prince (1985)

La commissione della colonna sonora di questo film fu ottenuta grazie a Roma Ryan: il regista David Puttnam era alla ricerca di un’artista che ne componesse le musiche; la Ryan inviò al regista britannico alcuni demo il quale dopo averli ascoltati decise affidare tale compito ad Enya. Al suo interno sono contenuti brani composti ed eseguiti dalla cantante irlandese e da altri artisti (si veda la tracklist per ulteriori info). Si tratta per lo più di brani strumentali ad eccezione di The Frog Prince, Dreams – eseguiti da Enya e prodotti da Nicky Ryan – e di Les Flon-Flons Du Bal di Edith Piaf. Le restanti quattordici tracce (incluso il brano della Piaf) furono prodotte da Richard Myhill. Uscito nel 1985 nella versione LP e musicassetta per l’etichetta Island Visual Arts, fu successivamente rilasciato nel formato CD nel 1995 per l’etichetta Spectrum Music. Un’ulteriore ristampa nel formato CD è avvenuta nel 1999 (sempre sotto etichetta Spectrum Music). Nel booklet è presente una breve biografia riguardante Enya e che potete leggere qui di seguito:

When she was eighteen Enya (Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) joined the group Clannad, her immediately family. With whom she recorded two albums and toured Europe for two years. After she decided to devote her time to her own music. This album sees her first incursion into the world of film music. It is a grate source of pride for Enya that David Puttnam chose her music for this project.

All'età di diciotto anni Enya (Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) si è unita al gruppo di Clannad, da subito la sua famiglia. Con loro ha inciso due album andando in tour in Europa per due anni.
